On this day two years ago, three weeks into the invasion of Ukraine, I have sent the result of a multiple month long investigation in a data carrier containing recently leaked documents by the Russian government backed hacking group "Free Civilian", and information about them, to the Ukrainian embassy of Germany after being advised to do so in various phone calls with them.
My files also contained the IP addresses of the hacking group I gathered from TOX, their onion, and later their…

How does someone trying to find an IP address present a warrant to the dns resolver? Is this a dnssec extension? An AXFR with TSIG/SIG(0)? Or are the warrant & query (and responsive records) transmitted over some other protocol (eg eg dns over postal mail)?

Technical sysadmin-ish question. We've had our family mail hosted at a bullshit rinky-dink server since forever, we pay too much, and today we had a mail glitch because some bullshit automated IP address filter triggered.
So, what's the process for transferring a domain name, plus all the IMAP mail on those servers? We have ssh access to a server, even. I researched this once, I think something like "Dovecot" is part of the answer. Not sure if I should look at blueho…

TIL: On macOS, you can delegate specific domains to non-default resolvers by creating `/etc/resolver/example.com` with the contents `nameserver <IP_ADDRESS>`.
That'll work nicely with my #tailscale #headscale VPN.
